World of WarCraft Gear The more I talk to people about World of Warcraft the more I think that for a lot of people it is really all about the gear. Sure people will tell you about calls and rank, but the next thing they seem to tell you is what gear they have. I wonder in the end if the game doesn't draw a lot of people who are basically pack rats or collectors and who want to get as much WOW gear as they can. (Speaking of urges, check out the addiction poll) If you think about it, even the people who are trying to make a living from World of Warcraft are selling gear, or gold to buy gear, on ebay and the like. Have you ever bought gear online outside the game? I think a lot of people have. It is just an interesting thought. I think this is the same urge that people have when they buy a new car and have to get the gear, or pick up any other new hobby. Think of the people you know who like to hunt, or fish, or ski, or hike. Yes they are healthier than people who sit in front of a computer and play World of Warcraft, but they are also all about getting the best and latest gear. Sure there is virtual adventure, but at the end of the day I think people people are still motivated by what they have, even if the gear isn't real. |
